I found this recipe on pg 83 in Gooseberry Patch Christmas Book 7. And, to be honest, the only reason I'm baking these brownies is because I'm curious as to how they will taste. Lord knows I don't need any more sweets in my house! But then again, we've had so much company coming and going, what I bake today is the only sweet I have to offer...until I make the hubby's fudge tonight!

So anyway....brownies made from Graham Crackers? Let's try it and see.

To be honest...they are pretty good! They look and taste like a pan cookie.

What are your most special Christmas memories?
Fifteen years ago, my family and I returned from a 5 year tour in Okinawa, Japan. My husband is now retired, but at the time he was finishing up his 20 years of serving in the United States Air Force.
Living in Okinawa was one of the greatest experiences we have ever had as a family! We loved it there because there was so much culture to explore. We homeschooled our children most of the time we lived there, so we were constantly going on field trips; some with the group, some with just our family. The parks, beaches, waterfalls, and the sea wall were our favorite places to go. And the shopping...oh my goodness...the deals I could get when the yen rate was high!
But although it was so much fun to live there, we still had a few downfalls. We really missed our family....especially during the Holidays.
Being stationed on a military base, in another country, causes you to lean on other military members for support. We met so many people at our church and in my husbands squadron...we all became ‘family' to each other.
One year for Thanksgiving, we invited a few ‘family' over for dinner. We had a such a good, special time spending the day together. But, later on we found out that there were a few new families that just arrived to the island and were overlooked for the holiday. Well....I sure wasn't going to allow that to happen for a second time! So, for Christmas dinner we invited them all....without doing a head count as we went along. Let me tell you...our house was full! We ended up with 25 people in our home that day!! We had so much food and had the best time! Our children will always remember that day.
I know it wasn't the same as spending the time with our ‘real' family, but there was still a special bond that we all had with each other. We were good friends. They were the family we were able to choose...because we needed each other.

Hmm, I don't know what I think about graham cracker brownies, but it reminded me of soda cracker English toffee that I made several times. It was amazing, so you never know how these things are going to turn out!! I think I will try them and see.
I know that it means a lot to military families to bond during the holidays. I have a son that will soon have his 20 years in and he's been away more holidays than he's been home and he oftens gets together with friends too.
